The early May Bank Holiday weekend arrived and I was thrilled to be spending it in sunny Weymouth to capture the wedding of Claire and Dailee. I arrived in Weymouth on Saturday afternoon, enjoying the beautiful sunshine and taking in the holiday atmosphere down at the beach, watching traditional donkey rides and the classic pitch and put. After sampling a delicious Dorset cream tea, I headed to The Blue Duck Bar at The Springhead Pub in Sutton Poyntz, the venue for Sunday’s wedding. Having had a sneaky preparative peak at the wedding venue I headed off, excited about the amazing images I could capture in the lovely Weymouth sunshine.
Sunday morning came and I was up bright and early for a hearty full English breakfast to fuel me for the busy day ahead. Then it was a quick trip to capture some venue shots before heading to Dailee’s Mum’s house to capture the nervous groom and his best men getting ready. It was lovely to be able to capture his emotions as he opened his heartfelt gifts from his Bride. Then it was off to Claire and Dailee’s house where the girlie preparation was under way. The beautiful Honey and Poppy (aka Peppa), Claire and Dailee’s daughters, were just delightful, full of excitement for the big day. Having delivered Dailee’s beautiful Pandora bracelet to his future wife, I proceeded to muck in, pouring the Prosecco, running around finding hairspray and generally helping wherever needed, all whilst recording the day as it unfolded! This is why I love my job!!
I headed off to the venue to await the arrival of the Groom, guests and finally the blushing Bride. And this was when the rain came………..and remained for most of the afternoon!! However, it did not spoil the day by any means and following a beautiful ceremony, the new Mr and Mrs Thompson embraced the weather and we had some fun in the rain. The wedding had a fantastic rustic theme, and after the guests had enjoyed their classic Ploughman’s lunch, with wellington boots at the ready, the happy couple delighted in the opportunity to splash about, relax and have fun getting some great shots in between the heavy showers.
After cutting the beautiful wedding cake, lovingly made by Dailee’s Aunt, everyone enjoyed some brilliant live music from the amazing guitar-playing solo singer, before the first dance. This was my cue to leave after what had been a fantastic and enjoyable day with a truly amazing and friendly couple and their family and friends. Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Thompson – may I wish you both a future filled with happiness.
