This wedding was always going to be close to my heart. In January 2017 I decided to venture back into wedding photography after a break of about 10 years. Chrissy and Jordan contacted me via Facebook and after a lovely FaceTime conversation they agreed to hire me – my first official booking!!
I was very honoured that they trusted me to be their photographer when I could only offer them my enthusiasm and a few old portfolio pictures.
Fast forward to August and Chrissy and Jordan’s day had arrived. They had kindly organised accommodation for me at The Overstone Park Hotel in Northampton the night before the wedding so I set off from home on the afternoon of Thursday 24th – a smart move given that The British MotoGP™ was to hit Silverstone over the Bank Holiday weekend!
I travelled to The Brampton Heath Golf Centre where the ceremony was to take place and after snapping a cheeky selfie there, I began my pre-wedding preparation, soaking up the surroundings and planning those all-important ‘money shots’ that Chrissy and Jordan would be able to look back on for years to come.
The ceremony room was already decorated when I arrived on the Thursday, an abundance of beautiful handmade adornments that Chrissy had lovingly created on display. I also met up with the wedding co-ordinator which was great as it meant I could be where I needed to be on the day in an unobtrusive way, one step ahead as I knew the plans. I then headed off to The Overstone Park Hotel to enjoy my favourite food…….a burger. Very fitting given that the following day was National Burger Day (Google it – I promise you it is an actual day!).
I arrived at Chrissy and Jordan’s house the next morning to find nine ladies in the midst of hair and make-up preparations. Now I share a home with three ladies and I find that manic enough, but Chrissy’s make up lady Simone had everything under control and all was extremely (and unexpectedly) calm!! Even the bride-to-be was as cool as a cucumber! I captured some lovely shots of a wonderfully warm and welcoming family embracing the special day that Chrissy had meticulously planned.
